Very enjoyable stay - hotel very convenient and staff very helpful and friendly.
Room was a good value for the money - we wanted something economical that was close to the sights. The Mont Clare was clean, had all the amenities we needed, and was in a convenient but quiet location. However, if you are picky about service or want a high-end experience, then it is worth it to pay more elsewhere. We asked for a wake up call each night but didn't always get one. We also asked the staff twice for local restaurant recommendations and they struggled to come up with specific suggestions. And we only ate breakfast there once because the staff started putting the buffet away right after we sat down and well before the posted closing time, so we certainly did not get our 17 euros worth per person.
Great location, a short walk to all. Very friendly staff, who were willing to go out of their way to assist us.
The staff was wonderful! We were so impressed with the spaciousness of our room. Actually we were upgraded from a twin to a triple. And by the way it was cleaned impeccably! The location is both close enough and far away enough from the bustle of the City Center just on Merrion Square. It was perfect.I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone...truly.
Everything was to a very high standard.
On entering the hotel we were immediately greeted by an absolutely lovely receptionist which is always important especially as it's believed the 'Irish welcome' is fast disappearing. Excellent location, near everything you want to see in Dublin and the taxi from the train station is only around 8 or 9 euro. My only complaint would be the food in the bar and the price off a breakfast. I live in an expensive tourist town (Westport) yet breakfast in the hotels here is around 9 euro and includes table service. The Mont Clare was self service and 16 euro which I find a little expensive. That would make 112 euro on breakfast if you spent a week there. That's a bit awful. But, again, the staff were fabulous which meant you didn't mind as much. The room was small but had everything we needed. Enjoyed my best nights sleep in months. Coming from an 8 month pregnant woman that should afford you an extra star!
The hotel was pleasant enough although we didn't spend much time there and didn't sample the bars or food.
I have visited Dublin several times over the last twenty years staying in a number of hotels. I have travelled alone, as a couple, and with my children. January 2007 was my second stay at the Mont Clare. I chose to return to the Mont Clare for several reasons: location, safety and security, parking, and your friendly helpful staff.
Excellent Value for money. Staff very professional and courteous.
I think the hotel is of a high standard but a little expensive.
